About
P.I.L.S. is a duo founded in 2003 by Ilgot Liljedahl & Patrik Sandgren with the release of the song Love can be. The text was written by the poet Börje Larsson.
The original idea of the project was to work as a global indenpendent internet based band. Liljedahl & Sandgren creates all music and lyrics together even though they may represent different tasks in different productions. Sandgren is most often the musical engine and simultaineously the lead singer, while the lyrics usually are made by consensus of both members. The music is a blend of various influences as in He didn’t do it from 2006. All songs are recorded and mixed in their home studios.
Liljedahl was one of the members in the early Swedish punk band Åskådarna (The Spectators) who released an EP in 1980 including Radion (The Radio). In the 1980's Liljedahl & Sandgren were leading figures and composers in the Swedish reggae band Skånska köket (The Scanian Kitchen) with Sandgren as guitarist and lead singer and Liljedahl as the bassist. In 1984 The Scanian Kitchen made a demo in Sonet studio in Växjö with Swedish artist Peps Persson and Lave Lindholm at the mixing table. One of the tracks was Hallå (Hello). In 1985 the “Kitchen” recorded a following demo including En liten pojke sprang (A little boy ran) at Jonas Hellborg’s studio in Genarp outside Lund also with Lindholm at the board. During that time the lyrics were mostly in Swedish. Later Sandgren played bass in the international outward-looking Swedish rock band The Golden Turkey who did
some shows in Hollywood US (1994).
P.I.L.S. latest song is called Long way to go (to the waterhole) - 2018 - follower Barnen (The Children) from the same year, but with text in swedish. The recent song is the first to be released in english for some years. At the beginning most texts where in english. If this revived english trend will continue remains to be seen, although the band's universal profile is unchanged…
